RESURF® POLYMER CONCRETE SYSTEMS PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE REPAIRS
FOR TRANSPORTATION

SUCCESSFUL LONG TERM REPAIRS TO PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE ROADS, BRIDGES, AND AIRPORTS ARE MUCH MORE COMPLEX AND DIFFICULT THAN EXPECTED OR OFTEN CLAIMED. THE MULTIPLICITY OF FACTORS, TO BE APPRECIATED BY PLANNERS AND INSTALLERS LEADS, MOST OFTEN, TO LESS THAN OPTIMUM RESULTS.

THERE IS AN EVER GROWING NEED FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE, COST EFFECTIVE, AND USER-FRIENDLY CONCRETE REPAIR SYSTEMS: PRODUCTS AND TECHNIQUES. OUR RESURF LINE OF POLYMER CONCRETE PRODUCTS  ADDRESSES MOST OF THE NEEDS ENCOUNTERED BY REPAIR CREWS:

RESURF ® IS THE REGISTERED TRADE MARK OF POLYMER CONCRETE INC.

RESURF® II GENERAL PURPOSE POLYMER
CONCRETE SYSTEM

RESURF® II IS POSSIBLY THE BEST PERFORMING, MOST VERSATILE, AND MOST COST EFFECTIVE PRODUCT ON THE MARKET FOR GENERAL CONCRETE REPAIRS. IT IS A WELL PROVEN SYSTEM (ALL COMPONENTS: RESIN, CATALYST, DESIGNED AGGREGATE BLEND FOR OUTSTANDING PHYSICAL VALUES AND SPECIFICATIONS). RESURF® II IS CONVENIENTLY PACKAGED FOR HALF CUBIC FOOT INCREMENTS BUT USER-FRIENDLY SMALLER OR LARGER BATCHES ARE EASILY MADE.

SAWING IS ALMOST NEVER RECOMMENDED NOR NECESSARY BECAUSE FEATHEREDGING WORKS. OUTSTANDING BOND STRENGTHS AND WEAR RESISTANCE ALLOWS SPECIAL APPLICATIONS AND TECHNIQUES FOR EVEN FIRE SPALLS THAT ARE EXTREMELY COST EFFECTIVE. OUTSTANDING RIDE QUALITY AND SKID RESISTANCE ARE QUITE EASY TO ACHIEVE. THESE CAPABILITIES ALLOW MUCH LESS SURFACE PREP TIME (NEVER SHORT CUT NECESSARY SURFACE PREPARATION!) AND VOLUME REDUCTIONS OFTEN IN FACTORS OF 10. COST SAVINGS CAN BE VERY SIGNIFICANT!

WITH MINIMAL GUIDANCE (OVER THE PHONE, BY EMAIL, OR IN THE FIELD) FROM OUR TECHNICAL STAFF, A REPAIR CREW CAN ACCOMPLISH REMARKABLE RESULTS.

Resurf® II Aggregate Blend
Resurf® II Aggregate Blend.
Resurf® II Aggregate Blend is in convenient poly-lined 0.5 Cu. Ft. (60#) bags.
Bags are NOT waterproof.

Since Resurf® II Aggregate Blend is almost 90% of the formulation, it should be as cool as practical in hot weather: This enhances workability and extends work time.

Good Surface Preparation Steps

- Sound for delaminations with a claw hammer.
- Mark with chalk.
- Chip with as small a chipping or jack hammer as practical.
- Rake and blow off.
- Repeat. (possibly several times)
- Taper back from joints. (as in video)
- Sandblast if possible.
- Look for loose areas. (usually high spots)
- Sound and chip smaller areas if necessary; a hatchet is a good finishing tool.
- NOTE: PCI generally does not recommend sawing as a part of surface preparation:
This makes the hole many  times larger than necessary, often necessitates removal of sound concrete,
and places stresses in one plane along saw cut.

Tools Needed For Resurf® II Repair
Userfriendly staged materials, tools, and measuring containers for Resurf® II repairs.
- After very good surface preparation to achieve sound, clean, and dry concrete.

- Have everything close before catalyzing

- All kept dry and as cool as practical in hot weather.

-Wheelbarrow and good gardening hoe. (larger jobs and batches can use mortar mixer,
discussed in video.)

-Round and square shovels

-Concrete rake

-2x4 screeds/tamps/trowels

-Resurf®II resin available in five gallon pails and fifty five gallon drums:
Reactivity adjusted to job and temperature requirements (in our plant)

-One and two gallon scribed resin measuring pails. (For one and two bag mixes)
Drum comes with faucet.

-Scribed pint bottle for catalyst  measurement:
One mark goes to one gallon, etc.

-1/2 Cu. Ft. bags of Resurf® II aggregate blend (see attached photo and features)

-4" bristle paint brushes (disposable)

-stir sticks.

We Send You
  • Scribed gallon pail which can be used to scribe larger pails for larger batches
  • Scribed 500 cc refillable bottle with 7 marks: each mark is approximately 2½ oz. (just in case you lose measuring bottle)
  • 2" resin faucet: If the faucets seize, strip out, or get lost, a ¾" brass or PVC faucet/ball valve will work fine in small bung.

Narrated video shows step by step process for 1 bag (1/2 Cu. Ft.), about 3/4 bag (about 0.4 Cu. Ft.), and 2 bag (1 Cu. Ft.) batches, all mixed in a contractor wheelbarrow.
Saw Cutting
Concrete Saw

Saws shown for reestablishment of designed joints "ONLY"

Often formed bridge joints require no sawing at all.

- Saw deep enough to go through repair
and maintain integrity of joint.
(When possible)

- NEVER tie two slabs or
spans together with a repair.

RESURF® CR
(CRACK REPAIR-GRAVITY)

Resurf®CR uses the same Resurf ®resin (and catalyst) as Resurf®II. It affords the capability to fill cracks and stabilize concrete before filling spalls with Resurf®II general purpose polymer concrete. Even old failing repairs can often be temporarily saved by sealing back in with Resurf®CR. Resurf®CR can be worked at wetnesses to match crack widths.

RESURF® EPOXY INJECTION SYSTEMS
EPOXY INJECTION (including baloon injection) CAN BE AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO SEAL AND RESTORE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY TO DAMAGED PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE COMPONENTS. SINCE SO MANY FACTORS AFFECT THE SYSTEM, TOOLS, AND TECHNIQUES, POLYMER CONCRETE INC OFTEN RECOMMENDS A COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT THE VARIOUS PARTS OF ANY PROJECT BEFORE ANY RECOMMENDATION ARE MADE. AFTER REVIEW OF ANY SCOPE, WE CAN MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS AND GIVE ESTIMATES OF COSTS TO AVAILABILITY. WE STOCK MOST NEEDS.
